Parents who pull their children out of public schools on the strength of a private school voucher could find themselves unknowingly giving up their rights to the very help they were hoping to gain.
The New York Times reports that many parents may not realize that by abandoning public schools, they give up their protections guaranteed by the Federal government's Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or IDEA.
