PRC-Saltillo has announced the introduction of a new eye tracking module for its PRC brand, the PRC Look™.
Debuting at the annual Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) conference at the end of January 2019, the PRC Look will replace its previous eye tracking solution, NuEye®.
Look is smaller and lighter, yet provides equal or enhanced performance over other solutions. The Look offers industry-leading ease-of-use features including: almost instantaneous gaze recovery, high accuracy, and low power consumption for both continuous and consistent performance. It also offers a large track box that enables continuous eye detection, even when the user’s head is tilted or in motion.
PRC has also maintained all of the clinical adjustments that AAC clinicians have come to appreciate, including smoothing, filtering, cursor feedback options, and calibration controls. The new Look eye tracking technology integrates seamlessly with PRC’s existing software, NuVoice™, and its new software, Empower™, also set to launch at ATIA.
The PRC Look module is based upon the Tobii IS4 platform which is used for both their PCEye and Tobii I series devices. The IS4 was released into the market in 2016 and has proven itself as a strong eye tracking platform for a range of applications, both as a medical device and general assistive technology.
"We are pleased to have chosen Tobii Tech as supplier of the new eye-tracking module for PRC's Accent® line of speech-generating devices. Selection of this accurate, reliable technology demonstrates PRC's commitment to the fulfilment of its mission to provide the best available solutions to its customers," explained Dave Hershberger, CEO of PRC-Saltillo. "This technology, when coupled with PRC's robust, clinically-proven language options and unmatched user support from its network of clinical and educational consultants, will enable PRC to provide the most comprehensive, industry-leading AAC access and communication solutions in the world."
The PRC Look will be available for clinical review and evaluation in late February, with the product shipping to consumers starting in March.
"We're thrilled to bring Look to market," said Chuck Reid, VP of Marketing & Distribution at PRC-Saltillo. "Serving our communicators by bringing them the best technology, language options and consultant expertise and support in the industry – to help them connect with the world – is why we do what we do."
