The Prentke Romich Company is pleased to announce the merger of Prentke Romich Co. (PRC) and its sister company, Saltillo.

Established in 1966 by Ed Prentke and Barry Romich, PRC has grown into a worldwide developer of speech-generating devices (SGDs) as well as several innovative language systems that allow individuals with complex communication disorders the ability to express themselves.

Saltillo, founded in 1998, was the brainchild of Dave Hershberger, then Director of Research & Development at PRC. The company found success manufacturing simple, easy-to-use devices designed to complement the PRC product line and serve individuals with cognitive disabilities. The company was acquired by PRC in late 2007, with Hershberger retaining his position as president of the Saltillo unit as well as being named Chief Technology Officer for PRC.

The two entities, formerly operating as separate companies, have long shared resources including funding assistance and other operational advantages. The new structure of "two brands, one company" will continue to expand upon those advantages where feasible.

"We're pleased to formally bring the two companies under one roof," said PRC CEO Dave Hershberger. "With this move, we’ll be able to leverage the name recognition of both companies as well as our superior service, funding assistance and more."

The new company will be renamed PRC-Saltillo. Hershberger, the former CEO of Saltillo until he was promoted to CEO of Prentke Romich Co. in 2017, will remain as chief executive officer for the combined businesses.
