For a growing number of people, their eyes are the key to unlocking the world of communication.
At the dawn of eye gaze technology, it was considered nothing short of a miracle. Today, however, it’s become a necessity for many, a way of communicating and navigating the world.
But for longtime PRC partner SensoMotoric Instruments (SMI), the technology behind PRC’s ground-breaking NuEye eye gaze system, it’s a way to continue to push new boundaries, create new vistas…a way to “open our eyes” to new worlds. SMI has been a pioneer in eye-tracking and eye-gaze across a variety of applications and audiences for more than 20 years.
This week, SMI is unveiling its new products for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) platforms at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
As both of these platforms continue to move from the realm of science fiction into reality, SMI intends to continue to be at the forefront, making such innovations become part of the landscape of daily life.
“We believe that our eye tracking technology will have significant implications for the future, and is a key component for next generation products,” said Christian Villwock, SMI Director, OEM Business. These products include anything from the development of standalone VR devices to controlling avatars in virtual worlds.
The same technology development that is exciting for its AR and VR applications will continue to benefit AAC device users who rely on eye gaze to communicate. Making eye-gaze more accurate and useful for a wider audience of users can only open up new worlds and new experiences for all types of users.
You only have to open your eyes!
