Anthony Arnold, an AAC communicator, will share his communication journey from a user perspective, highlight stories and implementation strategies that supported him, and how his personal opportunities to work nationally increased his empowerment and self-advocacy skills.

Learner Outcomes:

1. Demonstrate three examples of how to foster good communication from a user perspective.
2. Discuss three current examples of recent national speaking opportunities and their impact.
3. Discuss and apply two impromptu responses during a question-and-answer period.

5 minutes - Introduction and overview of what we’re going to be covering

10 minutes - Early childhood intervention/beginning of a lifelong journey with AAC

15 minutes - How to Integrate AAC in Educational and Social Environments

10 minutes - AAC Language development for all activities and environments without duplicating systems – user point of view

10 minutes - AAC users' national experience and self-advocacy (adulthood). What systems should be in place post-school

10 minutes - Question and Answers/ wrap up/ evaluation
